Bonar Laureto

Bonar is a Climate Change and Sustainability Services Principal specializing in decarbonization and low carbon development, climate risk assessment, sustainable finance, green jobs and just transition, circular economy, and nature and biodiversity. He provides advisory to businesses to integrate sustainability into their enterprise risk management, business strategy, innovation, performance management, and reporting. He has supported the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Philippines in drafting the sustainability reporting standards for publicly listed companies. He has also worked with multi-stakeholder groups including business, government, civil society, academe, the youth, and a multitude of experts to tackle key structural societal challenges, such as climate change, marine litter and plastic pollution, structural inequality, and nature loss. He drives sectoral transformation through engagements with international development organizations and government agencies to provide technical assistance in creating enabling policies and mechanisms to address these issues at the systems level. He is an adopted Datu of the Matigsalog tribe in Mindanao and is working to scale carbon forestry investments in the tribe’s ancestral domains to benefit the local community and improve biodiversity. He is a member of the Philippine Sustainability Reporting Committee under the Philippine Financial and Sustainability Reporting Standards Council. Bonar graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the Central Mindanao University. He is a Fellow of the Asian Institute of Management’s Bridging Leaders’ Initiative for Climate Resilience. He is a Certified Sustainability Reporting Standards Trainer and a Certified Trainer on Business Ecosystems.
