Administrator St. Paul’s Hospital of Iloilo

Sr. Arcelita Sarnillo

Sr. Arcelita Sarnillo, SPC, is the administrator of St. Paul’s Hospital of Iloilo, Iloilo City, Philippines. The fateful event that happened in July 2000, where a garbage pile (in Quezon City) equivalent to a five-story building collapsed and fell among the poor in the neighbourhood causing deaths to more than 300 persons aroused her advocacy to manage the health care waste in the hospital wherever she was assigned. With her association and frequent exchange of ideas with Health Care Without Harm, this advocacy has expanded to holistic initiatives to care for Mother Earth. Her undergraduate course was Nursing with graduate studies in Nursing and Hospital Administration. In her stint as Provincial Assistant for Health Care (2009 -2014) she was able to implement solid waste management in Our Lady of Chartres Convent, Antipolo, Philippines. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of some SPC owned hospitals and the Asst. Secretary of the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines (PHAPi).
