Teddy Monroy

Mr. Monroy assumed the role of Country Representative for UNIDO in the Philippines in August of 2021. His work centers on promoting the organization’s mandate to advance inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) in the country toward socio-economic development, environmental protection, and lasting prosperity. In developing and managing the UNIDO portfolio, his engagements with government, private sector players, stakeholders, and development partners ensure that projects implemented under the UNIDO Philippine Country Programming Framework on ISID, 2018 - 2023 is aligned with the country’s development goals identified in the Philippine Development Plan and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Mr. Monroy’s engagement with the UNIDO Country Office dates back to 2011 where he served as National Consultant for Development Programming, and later in 2013, re-joined UNIDO as National Program Officer and National Expert for the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF). He performed the duties of a senior officer in charge of program; technical cooperation; project development; resource mobilization; and strategic communication at the country level. In recent years, his work in the United Nations has focused on SME development; facilitating the strengthening of quality infrastructure for market access and participation in global value chains; fostering the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies; promoting circularity, resource efficiency, cleaner production, and bankable business models; management of chemicals and wastes; climate action; and building partnerships with the private sector within the ISID framework. Mr. Monroy has a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Dela Salle University, Manila, where he also served as Assistant Professor and Researcher for more than 5 years. Prior to that, he worked in a multi-national consumer goods manufacturing company in the Research and Development Division in charge of process development.
